“Fuck you fuck you fuck you. Fucking American army piece of shit,” Sa’ad al-Azawi chanted behind the wheel of his BMW. He couldn’t recognize his own city, he couldn’t navigate it. He just wanted to hop across the July 14 Bridge to the manicured center of the city’s power, Baghdad’s palm-lined answer to the Washington Mall, soon to be home to the occupation headquarters. A tank blocked an on-ramp. We had to circle west along the Tigris River and then back east again to get to the Rashid Hotel. Baghdad’s map had become malleable, old routes across town melting away like mercury and ... market research, surveys and trends

The Very Angry Tea Party
Sometimes it is hard to know where politics ends and metaphysics begins: when, that is, the stakes of a political dispute concern not simply a clash of competing ideas and values but a clash about what is real and what is not, what can be said to exist on its own and what owes its existence to an other.  The seething anger that seems to be an indigenous aspect of the Tea Party movement arises, I think, at the very place where politics and metaphysics meet, where metaphysical sentiment becomes political belief.  More than their political ideas, it is the anger of Tea Party members that is already reshaping our political ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Google Answers: History of loyalty programs
What were the first systematic consumer loyalty programs? Conventional wisdom suggests that American Airlines AAdvantage in early 1981 was the first. Are there any reliable indications of the benefits of such programs to their sponsors? When was the first such program offered for a credit card? Are the metrics for profitability of the credit card loyalty programs clear? The earliest customer loyalty programs were "green stamp" programs in which customers collected stamps from retailers (double stamps on Tuesdays!), then collected them into books, which were redeemable for merchandise from a catalog. The best known was Sperry & ...
How do Google Apps users integrate their contacts into Google ...
Has Google Voice completely ignored Google Apps users?  I can't find a way to sign into Voice with my Google Apps credentials, and even an identically-named normal Google Account (like that used for Latitude) does not integrate with the Apps account contacts, nor the header links to other apps (mail/calendar/docs). Google, what's the plan here? Thanks for sharing the interim solution. There's hassle involved here because you wind up with two separate contacts lists to manage, which I really don't want (one for your Google Apps account, one for your Gmail account).  Hopefully Google just does the ...
