Employee motivation is important in libraries, as in any other organization. This article attempts to identify the place of motivation in developing human resources in the library. This attempt begins with the need to define human resources, human resources development, and motivation, and to discuss theories of motivation and the literature of motivation as they pertain to libraries. UNECA (1990) conceptualizes human resources as the body of knowledge, skills, attitudes, physical, and managerial efforts required to manipulate land, capital, and technology, to produce goods and services for human consumption and welfare. Human ...
This mental capability, combined with an erect body carriage that frees the hands for manipulating objects, has allowed humans to make far greater use of tools than any other species. Mitochondrial DNA and fossil evidence indicates that modern humans originated in Africa about 200,000 years ago. With individuals widespread in every continent except Antarctica , humans are a cosmopolitan species. , the population of humans was estimated to be about 6.8 billion. 1 Like most higher primates , humans are social animals . However, humans are uniquely adept at utilizing systems of communication for self-expression, the exchange of ...

Notes from a bitch...on unemployment and motivation... - Feministing
Congress has been at odds (surprise, surprise) over whether or not to extend benefits to unemployed workers. Democrats want to pass the extension while Republicans don't. A lot in the media have reported on this as a typical partisan staring contest...Democrats are glaring and Republicans aren't blinking while out-of-work Americans at the end of their current unemployment benefits brace themselves for the fallout. But something said by some Republicans during this stand-off caught my attention...something about how extending unemployment benefits removes a key motivation to find work. Matthew Yglesias » Douthat on Gay Marriage
This ideal holds up the commitment to lifelong fidelity and support by two sexually different human beings — a commitment that involves the mutual surrender, arguably, of their reproductive self-interest — as a uniquely admirable kind of relationship. It holds up the domestic life that can be created only by such unions, in which children grow up in intimate contact with both of their biological parents, as a uniquely admirable approach to child-rearing. And recognizing the difficulty of achieving these goals, it surrounds wedlock with a distinctive set of rituals, sanctions and taboos. The point of this ideal is not that other ... market research, surveys and trends

An assault on democracy
Democracy is far more than majority rule. For a society to be truly democratic, it must allow for freedom of expression and open deliberation of issues, as well as the liberty to organize - politically and in other areas of life. Civil-society organizations, for example, are essential tools for challenging the government and legislature in the media, courts and via public protest. Such checks and balances maintain the openness of a society and keep it democratic in spirit, not just on paper. The shift characterized by last year's election, which resulted in a far-right government, means that the Knesset now has a ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Human Resources: The future of HR, economic competitiveness ...
we define a knowledge based economy as one that is increasingly dependent for its growth on the input of knowledge as a value-added input to the economic system. This is reflected in a change in the basis of competitiveness for economies, organisations and individuals. This is realised in four interrelated ways. First, such economies experience a changing structure exemplified by new industries, occupations and organisational arrangements. Second, there is a change in the types of skills required, with a rise in the importance of generic skills, including the ability to work more autonomously, monitor their own output and ...
How much does it cost to have H&R Block do my taxes for me in one ...
Way too much to wind up owing when you do not. They charge between 90 - 150 depending upon the cost of living in that area for simple returns. If you have a complicated return, they look at it and give you an estimate. Don't go to block. They want you in and out in 15 minutes and they pressure you to take a refund anticipation loan {RAL}. It is usury! After you figure all the fees and charges and annualize, you pay 72% interest and it can be over 100%. I've seen many unhappy taxpayers after going to block. I've discussed this with enrolled agents and they insist it depends upon the location ...
