Welcome to the World of Human Resource Management. Your one stop Guide to the Recent Trends in HRM and People Development. Here are few of my tips/suggestions for becoming an Effective HR Manager and a source of inspiration for others. Tip No. 1 Be Patient People often approach HR Manager in the case of an emergency or if they would like to share their grievances. They want somebody to listen to them and help them solve their issues or problems. I completely agree that there are times when we don’t have solutions to every problem. However, as an HR professional our role becomes that of an agony aunt who lends her ears ...
Mini-Microsoft: The KIN-fusing KIN-clusion to KIN, and FY11 ...
Get out of the way Microsoft Bob, you have a replacement that Microsoft's Gen-Y employees can claim for their own! It's spelled K-I-N. KIN's demise can't surprise anyone. When I looked at the phone's features, I thought: alright, an incomplete Facebook experience that I cannot improve by installing new applications... and I pay $$$ through the nose for a plan. But I've got a green dot and KIN Studio... maybe that will be enough to sell enough units to justify the Danger acquisition and the person-years of work behind getting KIN out. What the hell where all those people doing? I couldn't ... market research, surveys and trends
Welcome to the second half | The Lohud Yankees Blog
Eighty one games into the season, the Yankees are the only team in baseball with 50 wins. Several things have gone wrong this season, but the most important thing has gone right. I wasn’t in the clubhouse after last night’s walk-off win, but I have to assume Nick Swisher’s words are just as true today as they were on Saturday. “If you would have told me come July 3 that we would have had the best record in the big leagues regardless of what anybody’s numbers are, I would have signed up for it right off the bat,” Swisher said. “That’s why this is such a team game. It doesn’t matter if the offense ... market research, surveys and trends

HR 3200: the House Health Care Deform bill | Corrente
So far I've only made it through the first 215 pages -- DIVISION A—AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE CHOICES -- which covers the Health Insurance Exchanges, the plans to be offered therein, "shared responsibility", and modifications to the IRS code to make all this possible. Some random highlights... The Public Option for me, but not for thee As an uninsured person, I will be allowed to shop for my insurance through my local HIE, and one of my options will be the "public plan." Too bad for you though, if you've already got insurance through your employer, you have to keep it. You won't be allowed into the ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
McCain jokes: $5 million a year is a good definition of rich ...
When asked by Rich Warren last night how he would "define rich," McCain did his very best to avoid the question and instead started rambling about the DNA of bears and Congress' vacation time. Although he said "$5 million" jokingly, it's pretty clear he didn't want to offend the fat cat base of the Republican Party. This is pretty ironic coming from a man that once bashed the Bush tax cuts as disproportionately skewed towards the wealthy. Maverick no more, indeed. (h/t Heather) “Some of the richest people I’ve ever known in my life are the most unhappy. I think that rich is — should be defined ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Ohio Dems slam Boehner's remarks on Social Security
In a press conference on Capitol Hill today, House Democrats in the Ohio delegation vigorously attacked House Minority Leader John Boehner for his recent suggestion -- among other things -- to raise the qualification to receive Social Security benefits. In an interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Boehner put forth the idea of raising the Social Security age to 70 for those who are more than 20 years away from receiving a Social Security check. Boehner went on to say, “We need to look at the American people and explain to them that we're broke.” More: “If you have substantial non-Social Security ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
White Sox vs. Rangers - Live Game Blog
It's a rarely seen Friday night, for-the-most-part sober live game blog.  Amidst all the hub-bub about Bulls free agency activities, the not-that-intrinsically-exciting 40-37 White Sox face off against the red-hot Texas Rangers who sit at 47-31 and have won 17 out of their last 21.  Yeeesh. The Sox are going to throw out Sweaty Freddy Garcia, who sits at 8-3 with a 4.66 ERA despite looking like he might give up 8 consecutive hits at any moment, against Colby Lewis for the Rangers.  Colby has been a surprising 7-5 with a 3.28 ERA and outstanding 1.07 WHIP, but also lost to Garcia in a previous meeting this ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Best career advice in 6 words? | LinkedIn Answers | LinkedIn
In January around the time of the inauguration, the Bush daughters wrote the Obama daughters a letter giving them advice on living in the public eye inside the White House. The most widely quoted part of that letter was pretty touching, "Remember who your dad really is." At about the same time, Newsweek ran a short story about a collection of 6 word memoirs put out by Smith Magazine on the topic of love. Given that Jenna and Barbara's advice happened to be exactly 6 words long, and that I have an interest in mentoring, I thought it would make for an interesting experiment to see what people might come up with on the topic ...
