Peg Ross, director of Grameen Foundation’s Human Capital Center team, recently returned from research trip to India. This is part of the Next Generation Leadership Development initiative to help develop the vital middle management level of microfinance leaders. It was already 100°F when we loaded into cars at 6 a.m. to head out to the most rural branch at CASHPOR , a microfinance institution (MFI) based in Varanasi in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh.  The branch is two hours away, and we stopped before heading out of town to buy a case of bottled water—something we would need to stave off dehydration in this extreme, dry ... market research, surveys and trends

United Way to unveil plans for volunteer center in Steamboat
The United Way will unveil its plans for a volunteer coordination center at tonight’s celebration recognizing donors from this year’s annual giving campaign. Executive Director Kelly Stanford said those interested in volunteering typically have to organize their own volunteer efforts. She said during meetings with groups that advocate for area senior citizens and youths this past year, they discussed the need to more efficiently match interested volunteers with volunteer opportunities. “We haven’t had a way to efficiently match volunteers with ongoing volunteer needs,” Stanford said. “Through my work with these groups, it became ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Part 2 | Top Secret America: Private contractors pose problems of cost, control
In June, a stone carver from Manassas, Va., chiseled another perfect star into a marble wall at CIA headquarters, one of 22 for agency workers killed in the global war initiated by the 2001 terrorist attacks. The intent of the memorial is to publicly honor the courage of those who died in the line of duty, but it also conceals a deeper story about government in the post-9/11 era: Eight of the 22 were not CIA officers at all. They were private contractors. To ensure that the country's most sensitive duties are carried out only by people loyal above all to the nation's interest, federal rules say contractors may not ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

When Implementing an HR Shared Service Center on a Global level as ...
I am incredibly blown away by the wasted dollars by the larger defense companies in the US that send several crews from different departments to the same job fairs, and post help wanted notices for the same jobs, and duplicate recruiting efforts constantly and consistently across the board. A centralized recruiting shared service center, where a job was posted, job fair attendance and costs were reviewed, simplified, and coordinated, would save those big bucks companies thousands of dollars across the board!
