Changing business practices,
such as the use of the Internet and outsourcing, have important implications
for the practice of leadership. As opposed to earlier beliefs on leadership
that assumed that leaders were born, current research primarily assumes that
leaders can be made. According to Kouzes and Posner (2002a) , “leadership is not the
private reserve of a few charismatic men and women. It is a process ordinary

Organizational commitment is an identification with and interest in the overall effectiveness and success of the organization. Over the past two decades, organizational commitment has become an increasingly popular research subject. The recent interest in the concept is likely a result of its relationship with other important employee behaviors. For example, organizational commitment appears to have an impact on job performance and turnover.(1) Mowday, Porter, and Steers suggested that society as a whole benefits from employees' organizational commitment due to lower job movement and higher national productivity.(2)

AAS is open to officer candidates in Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) and at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), and is formally affiliated with the Air Force Association (AFA). In addition to AFROTC or Academy commitments, AAS members must complete candidate training, attend meetings, and contribute to their respective Squadrons and ROTC detachments.
