Over two past decades, the U. S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has launched multiple initiatives to improve and reform the Federal hiring system. These initiatives have had two primary objectives: Both of the above goals are important, but achieving them has represented a substantial challenge. We recently presented several recommendations to make the above vision, a reality. The recommendations were made in an invited presentation to the Coalition for Effective Change , a non-partisan alliance of associations representing current and retired federal managers, executives and professionals. The recommendations are offered ...

UME Group :: » Assessment and Development Centers in Employee ...
An assessment center is a methodology (rather than a place) for thoroughly assessing a candidate for a job. A development center follows similar principles, but rather than selection, its primary purpose is to aid in the development of a current job-holder. Owing to the costs associated with assessment and development centers, they are typically used for higher level jobs. For example, they are used as part of graduate selection exercises for fast-track programs or for executive and managerial development. Also, as a result of costs, assessment and development centers are tools associated more with medium to large sized ... market research, surveys and trends

Businesses of all sizes have recognized the value of training. After all, training is an investment in organizational well-being, one that is made necessary by rapid changes and increasing complexity in all aspects of business. The first half of this year has been, at a minimum, very interesting and may be of seminal importance. In early February, President Obama announced his plans for NASA and then, in early June, came the successful launch of Falcon 9 carrying a boilerplate model of the Dragon spacecraft. Both events have generated a heated debate about the future of America’s space program and the relationship, roles, and relative merits of a government-funded agency and private enterprise. As passionate as this debate has become (and it’s far from over) it fails to comprehend the seismic importance of these events and the ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Human Resource Management (HRM) is the term used to describe formal systems devised for the management of people within an organization. This mandate is unlikely to change in any fundamental way, despite the ever-increasing pace of change in the business world.  "The basic mission of human resources will always be to acquire, ...
