I can't think of any other profession that is expected to (and does) give away their work with the same frequency. Many designers seem to feel that their pro-bono clients take advantage of them, yet they still continue to work for free. Why is that? also, they aren't well established enough to charge for their services. Same reason lawyers do pro bono work, usually. BTW, that's why i'm switching from web design to estate law.
