SIUC's Sexual Harassment Policy Badly Needs Revision - FIRE
Coming in the wake of deeply controversial prosecutions of two professors for sexual harassment—which led to lawsuits, a free speech crisis , administrative deceit, and possibly even the death of one of the faculty members due to the stress associated with SIUC's treatment of him—what could SIUC possibly be thinking? As Azhar writes: In fact, SIUC's policy severely misapplies sexual harassment law, violating the First Amendment rights of students and faculty. Not only that, but its procedures for adjudicating sexual harassment accusations deny basic due process to those accused. The ... market research, surveys and trends

Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: A Primer
Although businesses know it exists, they appear unsure of what to do about it. As a result, the specter of employer liability for sexual harassment continues to loom over the workplace. 7 Failure to adopt a pro-active and aggressive stance on this issue, how ever, can result not only in costly lawsuits, but also in a loss of employee morale, decline in productivity, and an erosion of a company's public image. 8 That businesses are still taking chances may reflect a failure to adequately consider the risks. This may prove costly because these risks have substantially increased in recent years. In 1991, Congress amended Title ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Darwin Holly ("Appellant") appeals a decision by the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission ("Commission") denying him unemployment benefits. How much can they get for a sexual harassment law suit? - Yahoo ...
A friend of mine worked for an employer who is now being sued for sexual harassment by EEOC. She quit her job because of being sexually harassed even after telling her boss. She was just wondering how much they could possibly get for her since quitting her job was not in her plans and cost her a lot. Any ideas please let me know. I guess the point of this is if she is going to only get a couple hundred dollars and everyone knows that she reported the harassment then it would not be worth it but if she will really get enough to make it worth it fine. 5 months ago Member since: February 02, 2007 Total points: 105637 (Level 7) ...
