An ongoing debate sets capital budgeting against market timing. The primary difficulty in evaluating these theories is finding distinct exogenous proxies for investment opportunities and mispricing. To the extent that demographic shifts in the more distant future are not incorporated into equity prices, market timing implies that ...

In return, the policy owner agrees to pay a stipulated amount at regular intervals or in lump sums. There may be designs in some countries where bills and death expenses plus catering for after funeral expenses should be included in Policy Premium. In the United States, the predominant form simply specifies a lump sum to be paid on the insured's demise. As with most insurance policies, life insurance is a contract ...

PTE Funding – Why the 9.5% Discount? - Education Directions
and covers the PTE funding discount of 9.5% (they get less than public providers) that the Minister wants to remove. I was doing lobbying work for a PTE group, NZAPEP, when this funding policy was introduced on Steve Maharey’s watch as Tertiary Education Minister and I have opposed it ever since, whether someone was paying me to do so or not (as is the case now). You see, the Minister felt that the Government shouldn’t be paying for the capital costs of private providers. To what extent are investment bank-differentiating factors ...
One explanation provided for the relatively high and increasingly stable spreads for moderate-sized IPOs ($20-$80 million) documented in Chen and Ritter (2000) is that issuing firms focus less on price and more on a combination of investment bank-differentiating factors (such as underwriter prestige, analyst coverage, industry expertise, under-pricing, price stabilization activities, liquidity provision, and so on,) and banks use industry-based differentiation as a source of market power. A New World Begins for Wall Street Oversight
poised to sign the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act this week, significant changes will be coming to Wall Street. Like any piece of legislation intended to alter the regulatory landscape, there are provisions to like and others to bemoan because the new law is a product of political compromises. The securities markets, and related litigation for violations of federal laws and regulations, will be heavily affected by the legislation. It is usually the case that the devil is in the details with this type of statute, and the Dodd-Frank Act often only provides the framework for those details, postponing ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
