The money is invested and, under normal circumstances, is locked away until the ...

Tory “efficiency savings” would cancel their school reforms ...
“Firstly, a new Government should stop any major new spending on IT projects and cancel existing projects which are not worth completing.” Stop any major new spending on IT projects. Hmm. Anyone spotted the problem yet? Any flagship Tory policies which require major new spending on IT projects? Ah yes . Michael Gove’s schools policy, which involves letting parents set up new schools will, like every other school vouchers programme round the world, need a big new IT database if it is going to work. This was, indeed, predicted a couple of years ago : “Now we come to the money side of things. Each child ... market research, surveys and trends

Child Trust Funds
To what problem was it a solution? I couldn’t fathom it out. Most people took the voucher as free money and to date I have never met anyone who ever wanted to top the initial voucher up. No surprise really. Its basic problem was saving into a fund that was automatically owned at age 18 by their child. Few parents wanted that lack of control over the destination and timing of the capital. Investors also wanted advice on where to place the money but the cost of the fund choice would have been as much as the voucher given to them. Advisers offered little expertise as they knew there would be no demand for it. And so the idea ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Which charitable organization should I donate money to, so as to ...
I'm thinking of starting a regular monthly donation cycle to a charitable organization, which helps the homeless/malnourished/sick children and adults in African countries and India. I had initially planned to do philanthropy on my own, but I soon realized that this work isn't my core area of expertise, and so "outsourcing" this task to an external agency will probably result in more benefit per dollar donated by me. Which foundation should I donate money to, so as to meet my objectives? What is the difference between a Democrat and Republican ? - Yahoo ...
A Democrat at heart basically believes in the perfectability of mankind through his institutions. If there's a human problem, set up an institution that will help with that. Democrats also believe it is fair to rob from Peter to pay Paul, also known as "wealth transfer" or "entitlements" through Social Security (which is bankrupt), Medicare (which is so bankrupt it could bankrupt the USA if it isn't "sunsetted"), and welfare payments to the poor. Classic example of the Democratic party in action: in 1996, greedily seeking re-election, Bill Clinton signed a welfare reform bill that limits welfare payments to 5 ...
