Steve Schueth, President of First Affirmative Financial Network in Colorado Springs, Colorado , said that in the 1990s many investors “began to look for those companies that were better than their competitors in ...

European Bank Stress Tests Put Financials In Focus | ETF Database
After a rough day in the markets on Wednesday, equities soared on Thursday as investors cheered the results from a host of companies who reported a strong quarter and managed to increase earnings by maximizing top line growth instead of cutting costs. Among the biggest gainers on the day was industrial manufacturer Caterpillar which raised guidance for the second half the year, while pharma giants Eli Lilly and Bristol-Myers Squibb reported strong earnings and revenue growth as well. “The market is struggling between a message from the Fed that is slightly discomforting and earnings that are coming which have been quite ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Homebuilder ETFs In Focus As Market Stalls
Score another point for the bears. Recent data releases have painted a dismal picture for the U.S. housing industry, as sales plummet, construction grinds to a halt, and inventories soar. After housing sales declined 33% in May after the expiration of a critical tax credit, the sector was further battered with the release of June’s results. Housing starts fell 5% last month , far worse than the 3.2% decline that economists had forecast. KB Home, one of largest publicly-traded homebuilders, reported that second quarter orders declined by 23%, the latest setback for an industry that had seemingly clawed back from the brink ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Mutual Funds: etf`s vs. Vanguard and DFA funds, vanguard index ...
QUESTION: I am currently invested in a combination of 11 asset classes well diversified globally having Vanguard and DFA funds. I`m reading about etf`s and of course noticed their much lower expense ratios and wondering if they will perform better than what I already own. If I transfer to Scottrade the commission would amount to $77.00 to set the portfolio up ($7.00 a trade). I will not do any trading except for reinvesting capital gains and dividends as issued while I will reinvest them in the under performer asset class over a 5 year period. My question is which will perform better for me long term ie. Vanguard index funds,DFA ...
