1 - Being asked. Email is easy to ignore, so it will only be mildly successful - call or find a way to meet the people you are asking. Think about it as sales, not begging - and don't be afraid to be forward. 2 - It fits my company image/values. Sponsorship of an event is done out of kindness, but it is also a strategic opportunity to connect on a very personal level with potential customers.
