French securities services specialist CACEIS and global custodian bank JPMorgan have emerged as the leading providers of administration services to private equity funds, according to Global Custodian magazine's 2008 Private Equity Fund Administration Survey. "The idea of outsourcing administrative tasks has come to the private equity industry relatively recently," says Dominic Hobson, editor in chief of Global Custodian magazine. "But our survey is clear evidence that it has taken off." "Private equity administration is a very different discipline from hedge fund or mutual fund administration. But the arguments in ...
established the CIA, affording it "no police or law enforcement functions, either at home or abroad". One year later, this mandate was expanded to include "sabotage, anti-sabotage, demolition and evacuation measures...subversion [and] assistance to underground resistance movements, guerrillas and refugee liberation movements, and support of indigenous anti-communist elements in threatened countries of the free world". 1 The CIA's primary function is to collect information about foreign governments, corporations , and individuals, and to advise public policymakers. Celebration in the control room but BP warns that effort to seal off well for good is 'far from the finish line' After 87 days, numerous false starts and broken promises, and more than 4m barrels of oil spewed into the ecologically rich waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the moment was almost too sweet to take in: BP's underwater cameras, dubbed "spillcams", finally broadcast a picture that was clean, calm and absolutely devoid of any billowing oil. Clapping, handshakes and backslaps erupted in the control room in Houston where BP and US government scientists have mingled, fretted and plotted since the ... market research, surveys and trends
A Spiral of Debt Deflation Into a Bottomless Economic Abyss is ...
The U.S. economy is in a downward spiral of debt deflation despite the bold actions of the federal government and of the U.S. Federal Reserve taken in response to the financial crisis that began in 2008 and the associated recession. Indeed, von Mises once said, “There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later, as a final and total catastrophe of the currency involved” and just that is happening before our very eyes. Outsourcing Taking Hold in Derivatives Processing
As the asset management and brokerage communities place increasing emphasis on over-the-counter derivatives, their middle and back offices are struggling with the demands. Many are turning to outsourcing for help with the complex administrative needs. Recent events have highlighted the need for automation. I am looking for a new vendor for printing our accounting ...
After a month full of 5 screw-ups on a single print job, I am ready to find a new vendor for printing our check stock. I would prefer a local printer (RTP area, NC) after being fed up with the national vendor where the infrastructure is scattered all over the country, which I am sure is why it took 5 attempts to get my basic, simple order correct. This is not even the first time they have screwed up. However, I understand that not all printing companies are set up to print check stock. (I have already contacted our preferred printer for everything else we have printed.) I am told it requires special paper, as well as special ...
What is wrong with being thrifty? | LinkedIn Answers | LinkedIn
Nothing's wrong with being thrifty, but if everyone did it, your economy would be smaller, and you'd all be poorer. So your question becomes: What's wrong with being poorer? posted 4 months ago I'll bite. "Thrifty" seems to me to be a focus on the wrong goal. The way I try to approach life is to think first of values and priorities. Sometimes the thing that saves the most money requires sacrificing something else that's more important - even my own time. Sometimes, the thrifty choice even costs more in the long run. Example: Cook a dinner rather than eat out or enjoy a dinner at the local cafe while ...
