China Accelerating Use of Natural Gas Vehicles -- Seeking Alpha
In a recent television interview, Boone Pickens told a reporter he was surprised to discover there were 9,000 buses in China running on natural gas. We were excited that someone else finally brought it up. In an era of worrisome global warming events, it’s hard to argue with a transportation system that has proven to reduce particulate emissions by 95 percent compared to diesel engines and which also reduces carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides by 75 percent and 49 percent, respectively. Those are the statistics UPS (NYSE: UPS ) provides with regards to its 800 vehicles now running on compressed natural gas [CNG]. UPS has the ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Can Ford pull off another earnings surprise? - DailyFinance
is the rough equivalent among Detroit automakers. Although this may be faint praise, Ford is the only one of the Big Three to refuse a government bailout and avoid bankruptcy protection. Still, investors are expecting Ford to report a second-quarter loss tomorrow, albeit a narrower one. The company, led the past two years by CEO Alan Mulally , has repeatedly stated that it can weather the current crisis on its own. Under Mulally, Ford raised fresh capital in 2006, sold non-core brands, reduced its automotive debt by $10 billion this year and managed to get concessions from the UAW and suppliers. Meanwhile, it concentrated on ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Suburban residents now favor more transit spending, poll shows
Marty Owens and her husband, Jim Ceithaml, ride a Metra train into Chicago. Ceithaml hopes for a suburb-to-suburb transit system. ( Antonio Perez, Tribune photo / July 24 , 2010 ) ct-met-transportation-poll-20100724 Reflecting the increasing strain of gridlocked traffic, a majority of Chicago-area residents think improving bus and train service is so important to the region that repairing and expanding expressways and toll roads should take a back seat, a Tribune/WGN poll shows. The Greening of Silicon Valley: It Looks Like the Next Big Thing ...
From the street, Adobe Systems’ San Jose headquarters looks like any other collection of skyscrapers that dot the downtown of the self-proclaimed capital of Silicon Valley. But ascend to a skyway that connects two of the software company’s towers and you’ll find a wind farm. Twenty vertical turbines that resemble a modern art installation slowly rotate in the breeze that blows through a six-floor plaza. Down in the parking garage, a dozen electric car-charging stations have been set up. Adobe, which makes the ubiquitous Flash player software, will install 18 more chargers this year to accommodate workers expected to be first in ...

Any sense in investing in hybrid auto technologies? - Yahoo! Answers
With the economies the way that they are the hybrids do well in sales but they are really expensive. Since people don't have a lot of money they are not willing to pay as much for cars. I just recently saw an article that said that Honda will be rolling out a low cost hybrid, while Toyota says that they are teaming up with NEC to make lithium ion batteries for cars so that they can release an electric car in 2010. If I were to invest in hybrids I would invest in Toyota since they are the leader in hybrid technology or invest in a secondary company that will make the components for hybrids like NEC Corp or someone else. ...
Are there any companies currently investing or producing water ...
Water is already all burned up, no energy to drive anything. Water can be a working fluid, as steam in steam engines, you can have hydrogen (separated as a fuel) and oxygen from the air which means that exhaust is water but there are no water burning gadgets. There have also been gadgets for injecting water into normal gas or fuel oil engines with some benefits in cooling and like a steam engine but the water is not burned. No proven testimony, because any claims would be fraudulent. Sorry, the chemistry doesn't work that way. posted June 10, 2008 Mary, Les is right, those so called conversion kits can do terrible ...
