He wishes he hadn't
The 66-year-old is no idle retiree dwelling on the past, four years after selling Reebok International Ltd. to Adidas-Salomon AG for $3.8 billion. In fact, he could wear you out talking about life since leaving the Canton sneaker company he built from scratch. But Fireman looks back on the sale of Reebok and considers it a mistake. He wonders what happened to the plan to challenge Nike Inc. with the added muscle of the company’s new German owner. The former Reebok chief executive sees his old company as a business in serious decline. “If I knew then what I do now, I never would have done it,’’ Fireman ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
FSA sent to Room 101
At last, good news! The FSA is to be scrapped. Though, like most scrapped materials, it’s probably best to beware: it will likely be recycled into other bodies… In my humble opinion the FSA has failed at every level, so don’t mourn its passing. Failure at the macro level is, of course, well documented – the politicians and the press find it easiest to scream and shout about such. I won’t add further to this, except to say I am delighted to see Alan Yarrow, chairman of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment – and a man who has been in this business even longer than ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

One of the sectors hit the hardest by the financial mess in which the High Street banks and finance companies are not innocent is that of small businesses. Just at their time when their need is greatest, many of them are finding it almost impossible to obtain any money from bank loans to help them through the recession. What with banks and other finance companies proving unhelpful and seeking to impose unfair interest rates on business loans, an increasing number of small businesses are turning to  peer-to-peer ...

What is a reasonable fund operating expense for a mutual fund ...
The Yahoo article in finance today suggest an average expense of 1%, but says some costs can run as high as 2.25% (it even says they found some at 5%). So what is reasonable for an individual so he's not feeling like he's being gouged. You should get a fund with less than 1% expense ratio. I don't invest in anything with an expense ratio of more than 0.5%. One of my favorite funds has an expense ratio of 0.19%. See the link: It is tempting to buy funds that have high expense ratios and high past performance. However studies have shown that such funds rarely perform well in the future, despite ...
