between two parties to buy or sell a specified asset of standardized quantity and quality at a specified future date at a price agreed today (the futures price ). The contracts are traded on a futures exchange . Futures contracts are not "direct" securities like stocks, bonds, rights or warrants. They are still securities, however, though they are a type of derivative contract . Investing in Sustainable Energy Futures: Multilateral Development ...
This report reviews loans provided by Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) to developing countries for electricity policy from 2006–2008. It examines those policies, regulations, and institutional capacities in the electricity sector that will direct both public and private investment in sustainable energy options. The electricity sector lies at the nexus of two urgent global imperatives: powering economic activities and livelihoods and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the use of fossil fuels. Market Technical Update: Here s the Bounce, What s Next
Last week looked at first like it was going to be a wash out for the bulls with the market continuing the plunge that began Friday June 4. Indeed, even the bounce that kicked off mid-day on the 8 th rolled over rapidly on June 9 th , as though we had more “down work” to do before a real bounce could start. However, someone came in and bought a load of S&P 500 futures contracts Thursday morning and the market exploded higher. At first this seemed like a simple ramp job that would fail just like its predecessors did in the preceding two weeks. The first sign that this might be the beginning of something sustainable was when the ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Daily S&P Report(4)
Stock futures turned in a small gain Friday as investors weighed a better than expected reading on consumer sentiment against a disappointing retail sales report. The Mini Dow Futures contract rallied 51 points for the day. That helped the Dow snap a three week losing streak, with the blue chip index finishing up 2.8 percent for the week. It also pulled the Dow out of correction territory, down more than ten percent from their April high.  One big boost for the market today was that a gauge of Consumer sentiment jumped to 75.5 in a mid June reading, the highest since January 2008, according to the latest University of ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Gold is in an uptrend for nine days now. How much longer can this ...
One of the main reasons for my confidence is that gold is still a HATED asset by so-called financial professionals. There was even a top-of the-page article in the business and finance of my local newspaper (less than 10,000 circulation) which said that gold was a bubble. The article quoted many "genius" financial planners who warned the little guy to stay away from gold and to, of course, buy a portfolio of stocks which they would "help" you manage. These are the same "geniuses" who missed the trade of the decade last decade - buy gold, sell stocks. posted 2 months ago Multimedia Producer and i3D Programmer for Acrobat 3D PDF, ...
Pay off my house, or put it in the market? | Ask MetaFilter
I have the opportunity, via a "windfall of cash" to have enough money to buy my house. I owe about 40% of the current value of the house. With this windfall, I could pay it off, and have some cash left over. The other option is that I put the money into the market, where it will (hopefully) get more interest. The payments aren't a stretch for me now. However, I'll also be unemployed via this windfall, and if I were to pay off my house, I'd have no payments other than ongoing utilities. That would put me in a position to either 1) last a while, or 2) take some risks and go for a big pop at at startup. So, what ...
