Many readers have written and voiced concern that Ecuador might stop using the US dollars as its currency and return to a new sucre. This may or may not happen. I previously did not think it would, until recently President Correa vowed that Ecuador would continue to use  the US dollar. Lesson one of our Multi Currency Investing course points out that a general rule of currency investing is to expect a currency to devalue (or in this case change) soon after the responsible government swears that it will not .   See more about our Multi Currency Investing Course Perhaps. Risk management , the practice of appraising and controlling risk, has evolved as a discrete field of study and practice. Stock futures rise sharply, point to rebound - Investing News ...
NEW YORK, Jul. 22, 2010 (AP Online delivered by Newstex) -- Stocks were set for a strong rebound Thursday after another strong batch of earnings and some encouraging signs of growth in Europe. Futures rose sharply. Investors are largely writing off a jump in weekly jobless claims that might have been skewed by seasonal factors. Instead they are focused on earnings from a broad range of companies that demonstrate businesses are not seeing a slowdown in the recovery that economic data would otherwise indicate. European markets rose after a report showed unexpected growth in the 16-nation group that uses the euro. In recent months, ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Finding Hidden Gems in Diversified Industrials
Economic cycles usually play out according to a loosely defined sequential cadence. The depth and duration of each cycle differ considerably over decades, but the sequence of when segments of the domestic economy (loosely defined as consumption, production, and investment) progress through each phase of the cycle is relatively consistent. As we digest second-quarter earnings and study the macro indicators, it's quite apparent that the production-centric section of economy, while still firmly in rebound mode, is bumping up against some headwinds, and that investment-centric names are just starting to heat up. Markets have fallen 40% in less than a year. Millions of homeowners who played by the rules can't meet their mortgage payments and face foreclosure as the value of their homes have plummeted. What are some good "American Funds" to invest into a ROTH IRAs for ...

What are some good ones? The only way we can judge is based on past performance and based on risk. Future performance may not equal past performance so there is some risk that the criteria may be invalid. The same applies to risk. You do want to have a diversified portfolio.
