First off let me say that I like the way this book was written. Larry used short “tales” in order to make his point, which I thought was a nice touch compared to so many other investing books that are written in text book style. This book was refreshing to read from that perspective. I also found the book fairly easy to understand, which means most people can read it and get something out of it, no matter what their investing knowledge is. Basically, the entire book can be reduced down to this idea: Passive investing has been proven to be the best way to invest and active investing (trying to beat the market) is a ...
Stocking Stuffer Ideas For Christmas – Investing Made Simple Book
I’ve highlighted both Mike’s blog and book before and I was quite happy to review the book for him.  I think it’s a great resource for a non-investor or someone who is just getting started and needs a good introduction in one quick book.  It’s reasonably short at 100 pages and contains a lot of good basic investing information to help someone get started with investing. This is a fantastic book to give as a stocking stuffer idea for that friend or relative who needs some investment guidance but you don’t feel comfortable broaching the subject or maybe you don’t know quite enough yourself to ... market research, surveys and trends
Investing Made Simple by Warren Buffett | Joe Ponzio's F Wall Street
Investing isn’t all that difficult-at least, it doesn’t have to be. With the universe of investment opportunities available at the click of a mouse, why bother to try and invest in companies or in ways that you do not easily understand? Warren Buffett: I have three boxes on my desk: In, Out, and Too Hard. The point is simple: Don’t invest in things (or in ways) that you do not easily understand. Sounds simple enough. What’s the catch? The catch is…you have to do it. You have to be able to say, “No.” You have to say it a thousand times before you say, “Yes.” You have to be ... market research, surveys and trends

Garden checklist: Use cool mornings
• Prune spring-flowering shrubs now. Then leave them alone as they start to set next year's buds. Non-blooming hedges also can be trimmed. • Remove spent flowers from roses and other shrubs so they will continue blooming throughout the summer into fall. • Do your camellia or azalea leaves look yellow? That may be a sign of an iron deficiency. Apply some chelated iron. Around the house: Are you thinking of selling your home or just want to spruce it up on a budget? Why LeBron James should have never joined the Miami Heat
As much as I would hate to admit, I impatiently waited and watched the one-hour long debacle titled "The Decision" on ESPN. I do not attempt to hide the fact that I personally dislike LeBron James. This has nothing to do with my allegiance to the Los Angeles Lakers. I never hated Tim Duncan, or Richard Hamilton, or even Dwight Howard, who were all in the way of Laker championships. I dislike LeBron's egotistical persona, his ungrounded need for admiration and attention, his cockiness and exuberant on and off court presence. Even still, I expected LeBron to handle his free agency in a much more respectable manner. ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

How does investing in the stock market create wealth?
Investing doesn’t create wealth, work does. But you need lots of stuff to do work, like factories and supplies and on and on. The stock market allows you to sell part of your company for cash that allows you to buy what you need to do work and create wealth. You can also borrow money. In either case, you need people with capital to lend to you or to sell to, and stock and bond markets facilitate these transactions. On their own, they create nothing. But through markets, people can purchase companies (or small parts of them) that makes goods or provide services that people love. That’s how you create wealth. ...
