The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) market is at risk of grinding to a halt, the World Bank has warned, presenting its annual State and Trends of the Carbon Market report. European Commission proposals to severely restrict the use of CERs in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme after 2012 will contribute to this stalling, added ...
Housing market confidence dips as mortgage concerns remain ...
will rise by 5.5% from current levels over the next six months, this figure has fallen from 81% three months ago as concerns grow around the availability of mortgage finance persist. Confidence amongst homeowners remains high for the time being, but the dip does signal a directional shift and that concerns are building again around the outlook for the property market. The fear remains that the revival in the housing market will be derailed unless the banks make a concerted effort to increase lending. With job cuts looming in the public sector and interest rate hikes expected at some point, the new government has its work cut out ... market research, surveys and trends

Analysts had expected five to 10 banks would fail the test and estimated the capital shortfall could be over 30 billion euros. No big banks failed the health check. "The market expectation was that you were going to have about 10 bank failures," said Cary Leahey, economist at Bank of Tokyo/Mitsubishi UFJ in New York. "Fewer than six failures would ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
