"SRI is Thinking Ahead": Nobel Winner Joseph Stiglitz on Investing ...
Before the fall of 2008, did anyone think it necessary for government to expand its economic role so dramatically? Some observers did, and one – Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz – believes that socially responsible investment (SRI), in concert with better regulation and corporate governance – is essential to broadly shared, sustainable prosperity. "If as much effort went into wealth creation as theft," Mr. Stiglitz has said, "we'd have a much more productive society." NACUBO: Mission-Based Investing
Some institutions have for decades leveraged endowment dollars to align with their core values. Student activism, in large part, is drawing others to the idea. “No money, no mission,” says Sister Marguerite O’Beirne, vice president of mission and ministry at Neumann College, Aston, Pennsylvania. She understands the connection between earning a healthy return on endowment investments and providing strong academic programming and financial aid for students. She also believes that her institution has a responsibility to model social consciousness, in part by aligning investment decisions with institutional values. industry trends, business articles and survey research

Ever had to write a personal mission statement? What is it ...
Very insightful question. I write a personal mission statement every year and have done so since I reached 50 years old. I take 2 weeks’ vacation last 2 weeks of the year and during that time write it. When I turned 50, I realized that by the odds over half my life was over and I have hopefully 30 to 40 years left. I figured I will work and be active to 70 so that gave me 20 years. So I wrote my 20 year mission statement and each year I list 15 – 20 objectives that either accomplish or get me a measure way there. The mission statement is, ‘Have No Regrets (on my deathbed)” 2006: My 2006 (50th) ...
