QUESTION: My wife and I are currently listed as joint tenants (JT) on a Vanguard fund portfolio with my widowed mother. I am the only child and only beneficiary to her estate which will probably be about 1.7 million including her residence valued at about $250,000. The money was accumulated by her and my late father. Her intent is for us to receive all the money upon her death. The mutual fund portfolio's value is approximately $700,000 at this time. She is listed as the owner and pays any income taxes due.
