Today's topic at this 15th Annual Investment Outlook is “Making Money in Troubled Times”. This may be quite a challenge in 2009 if investors continue to do what they've always done. However, there is always a bull market somewhere and making money in troubled times is possible if you correctly identify the dominant trends and adjust your portfolios accordingly. After 2008, many investors will relate more to Will Rogers who famously said that: "I'm not so much interested in the return on my money as I am the return of my capital.” For most investors, 2008 was a painful year with many portfolios experiencing capital ...
Different Ways to Own Gold and Precious Metals
Should I own Gold coins or bars? Coins can be tricky if you engage in the numismatic coin trade which has less to do with the buying, holding, and trading the commodity, and more to do with the rarity of the coins. My opinion is if you can get a vintage coin close to the spot price of Gold then fine, but if not, then you need to remember that you are buying a coin filled with commissions paid to the broker. Remember you are buying precious metals because you feel the dollar’s value is diminishing and you are looking for a hedge against inflation. So don’t detract from your goals when looking at metals as an ... market research, surveys and trends
Precious Metals Investing for Dummies Review | Silver Monthly ...
Years ago, Wiley Publishing came up with a great idea for a series of books.  They called their series of books “For Dummies.”  And each book provides fundamental knowledge about a popular topic.  The books are written by experts who get to skip all the hoity-toity language and “industrial jargon.”  In other words, the authors write solely to inform their readers.  Which means the books are easy to read and get right to the point. Precious Metals Investing for Dummies is divided into five major parts:  breaking down precious metals; mining the landscape of metals; investing vehicles; investment strategies; and the part of tens. ... market research, surveys and trends

PRECIOUS METALS INVESTING | Gold Precious Metals Investing, Prices, Trading
I’ve been crunching numbers for open interest numbers from June 8th 2010 for options trading  on gold futures for August 2010 and some interesting things came up. Since picture tells more than a 1,000 words, I’m adding a graph. Looks like important option's strike price of gold is around $1,230. As you can see on above image (click on it for a full screen size), below strike price of $1,225 there’s more open interest for put option and above strike price of $1,230 there’s more open interest for call option. Also key strike prices can be $1,200 (more put open interest) and $1,250 (more call open ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Distinguishing between Styles of Precious Metals Investing - For ...
otherwise, the financial pitfalls could be very great. The differences aren't just in where your money is but also why and in what manner. Right now, millions of people live with no savings and lots of debt, which means that they are speculating with their budgets; retirees are day-trading their portfolios; and financial advisors are telling people to move their money from savings accounts to stocks without looking at the appropriateness of what they're doing. Make sure you understand the following terms — knowing the difference is crucial to you in the world of precious metals: Saving: The classical definition of industry trends, business articles and survey research
Silver may be a volatile metal, but consistent gains are worth it
At silver's current prices, many investors are investing in the precious metal due to the silver market’s extraordinarily bullish fundamentals. Image Credit: Bloomberg You try convincing my cousin to buy some silver and I am pretty much sure you will never succeed. Babi Roychoudhury, 45, a teacher in Ras Al Khaimah, is hooked on to gold and gold only. No amount of statistics or macroeconomic and investment arguments in favour of silver will force her to change her mind. That is most likely to be the case with the majority of Indians here. Or, for that matter, with many Emiratis and other UAE expat communities. The number ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Why Silver will Always Beat Gold
If you’re like most Americans today, you’ve grown tired of hearing words like "inflation", "national debt", and "credit crisis". For years now, it’s been hammered into your brain — the fact that your government has been writing checks it can’t cash, and in the process, diluting every cent you’ve managed to store away in your savings account. And for almost as long, you’ve probably been hearing financial advisors and so-called economic gurus telling you about how certain investments can protect you during these times of uncertainty. Without a doubt, ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Beginners' Guide to Asset Allocation, Diversification, and Rebalancing
Even if you are new to investing, you may already know some of the most fundamental principles of sound investing. How did you learn them? Through ordinary, real-life experiences that have nothing to do with the stock market. For example, have you ever noticed that street vendors often sell seemingly unrelated products - such as umbrellas and sunglasses? Initially, that may seem odd. After all, when would a person buy both items at the same time? Probably never - and that's the point. Street vendors know that when it's raining, it's easier to sell umbrellas but harder to ... technology research, surveys study and trend statistics

bud987.. Thank you for your question. You should be aware that the defintiion of "best" is quite arbitrary: year to date performance, 52 week high, 3 month, 1 month, etc. It all depends upon your investment strategy. I would also like to remind you that answers are general information, and are not intended to substitute for informed tax, legal, investment, accounting, or other professional advice. Prior to investing, always perform your own due dilligence. Gold Funds are funds that specialize in gold, gold shares and sometimes other precious metals. Sometimes, they are limited to ten per cent of the portfolio in gold. ...
Since gold is better than silver, is platinum better than gold ...
"Better" depends on what you are talking about. In equal weights, platinum is worth more than gold and gold is worth more than silver. So by that measure, platinum is better than gold and gold is better than silver. If you are talking about use, such as a protective cover for a satellite, then gold is not only better, it is the only choice. Likewise, their are instruments and devices which must use silver and having a bunch of platinum would be useless. 5 months ago There are currently no comments for this question. * You must be logged into Answers to add comments.
