peHUB » Searching for Alpha in Private Equity
I was at a private equity conference last week focused on issues of interest to Limited Partners. One of the things that struck me was several Limited Partners who described investing in private equity as “the search for alpha.” While in the past I have heard many Limited Partners talk about alpha, I have found very few who actually attempt to measure alpha. The textbook definition of alpha ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

An actively managed fund relies on the investment skills of the fund managers to beat the performance of a market index like the S&P 500. Actively managed funds charge fees that are usually at least double those charged by an index fund. The amount that an actively managed mutual fund rises above a market ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
