stocks rebound in late trading special research report Photo by
NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks surged Thursday morning after another strong batch of earnings and some encouraging signs of growth in Europe. Broader indexes rose more than 2 percent. ...

BANGKOK: Asian stock markets mostly rose Tuesday, shrugging off weak U.S. corporate results as Chinese shares leapt for a second day amid expectations Beijing will moderate its efforts to cool the world’s No. 3 economy. Revenue at big banks that have reported quarterly earnings has also disappointed investors. Oil prices, meanwhile, rose to near $77 a barrel. Do you think the stock market will rebound after the election ...
Any thoughtful and informed opinions on whether this factor alone could improve a sense of optimism and rally the market..? When and for how long? Of course my question is 'about' my own dismal situation on the stock market, but I wish to be informed at a broader level about the types of 'forecasting factors' others may feel are important to throw into the mix in looking ahead at the market. Particularly.. the upcoming presidential election. Now, before smirking at my naivete and launching into a solipsistic commentary about the many complex variables and how could I not know about these... ...
Why were investors salivating over the stocks volatile climb in ...
Most stocks surged in the final hour of trading Tuesday to give the Dow Jones industrials a gain of 123 points. That ended a two-day slump that sent the Dow down nearly 440 to a seven-month low. The market's rebound was choppy although Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke set the tone for the day by saying he didn't expect the economy to go back into recession. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose, but the Nasdaq composite index slipped as chipmakers fell on downbeat analyst comments. As was also the case Monday, there was no one catalyst for the late move. But the late rally itself drew buyers who had waited to ...
