is the practice of investing in companies that support or provide environmentally friendly products and practices. These companies encourage (and often profit from) new technologies that support the transition from carbon dependence to more sustainable alternatives. 1 As industries’ environmental impacts become more apparent, green topics have not only taken center stage in pop culture, but the financial world as well. Steve Schueth, President of First Affirmative Financial Network in Colorado Springs, Colorado , said that in the 1990s many investors “began to look for those companies that were better than their competitors in ...
Electric Vehicle Investing
I've personally been writing about this stuff for nearly a decade now, providing coverage on electric vehicle-related companies like: Ener1 (NASDAQ: HEV) Maxwell Technologies (NASDAQ: MXWL) UQM Technologies (AMEX: UQM) Enova Systems (AMEX: ENA) Electrovaya (TSX: EFL) Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) and A123 Systems (NASDAQ: AONE) And I maintain that electric vehicles (EVs) can help us significantly reduce our oil consumption, and if done right, provide millions of jobs for hard-working Americans . However, despite the EV enthusiasm we're seeing today in the marketplace, I don't believe that electric vehicles can ... market research, surveys and trends
Hub Berkeley Weekly Roll-Up: Money, Money, Money, Money « Hub Bay Area
Money has been accused of a lot of things over the years, most of them not very pretty.  Part of the reason I sold my soul and went to business school after a few years of community organizing was that I recognized the fundamental role money has played in making the world the way it is.  I figured if you want to change the world, best to understand one of the most powerful forces shaping it. What I learned is that money is just a tool, and the root of all evil can sprout more benevolent blossoms.  In the hands of a Hub member, for instance, money becomes an accelerator of social change.  Here at the Hub we like social change, so ... market research, surveys and trends

Time for Financial Markets to Tell the Truth about the Real ...
a collection of articles from 22 contributors including co-editors Cary Krosinsky and Nick Robins, was released in the fall of 2008. SI challenges investors to look beyond what contributor Steven Lydenberg calls "the fast-paced speculative nature of today's financial markets." Socially responsible investors (SRI) have been striving to meet this challenge for decades, and now current events have exposed the financial system's myopia as an urgent global crisis. If it had been released last year, this book would have been a valuable primer on how some investors integrate environmental, social and governance ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Utility PSE&G Breaks Ground for One of New Jersey's Largest Solar Projects
The New Jersey utility Public Service Electric and Gas Co. has marked the start of construction of its Silver Lake Solar Farm, a 2-megawatt array in Edison. The project is one of four large installations the company is developing as part of its "Solar 4 All" program. Canadian executives confident, but cautious
They have seen sales improve after the recession, and still plan to invest and hire. But, a Bank of Canada survey shows, they are concerned about market uncertainty and global developments. “Businesses are generally positive about their near-term sales prospects, although they are concerned about recent global economic and financial uncertainties and possible spillover effects in Canada,” the central bank said Monday in releasing its Business Outlook Survey. The survey found that for the first time since the economic downturn began in 2008, Canadian companies in the second quarter said their sales had improved over ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
