Kingdom of Bahrain is a hereditary kingdom governed by the Al-Khalifa family. In 2002, the country adopted a new constitution that reinstated a parliament, which consists of one elected and one appointed chamber. Islamic ideals and beliefs provide the conservative foundation of the country's customs, laws, and practices. Bahrain is a modern, developed country and tourist facilities are widely available. Coordinated efforts by the authorities have resulted in a decrease in the number of illegal expatriate residents in the Kingdom, however the number of illegals still remains high with around 43,000 expats on expired visas still in the country. Limassol, June 14, 2010 LIMASSOL: Moody's Investors Service has today placed the Baa3 long-term and the Prime-3 short-term foreign currency deposit ratings as well as the D+ bank financial strength rating (BFSR) of the United Gulf Bank B.S.C. (UGB) on review for possible downgrade. The Baa3 senior unsecured and Ba1 subordinated debt ratings of the bank were also placed on review for possible downgrade.
