(The Joint Declaration), signed between the Chinese and British governments on December 19, 1984. The Basic Law stipulates the basic policies of the PRC towards the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. As agreed between the PRC and the United Kingdom in the Joint Declaration, in accordance with the " One Country, Two Systems " principle, socialism as practised in the PRC would not be extended to Hong Kong. Instead, Hong Kong would continue its previous capitalist system and its way of life for a period of 50 years after 1997. A number of freedoms and rights of the Hong Kong residents are also protected under the ...

Indonesia Reforms its Tax Structure « Asia Tax Blog
If all goes well, at the first of 2009 Indonesia will engineer a radical redesign of its tax structure, instituting election-year tax sweeteners, slashing income taxes and eliminating the country’s hated Rp1 million (US$108.71) departure tax for local residents and registered foreign workers. The projected reforms would give tax breaks to companies that list at least 40 percent of their shares on the market and seek to increase revenues by improved tax collection to offset the tax breaks. Overall tax revenues as a percentage of gross domestic product amount to only 11.4 percent. By contrast, the figure for the world’s top 10 ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Andy Grove's op-ed at Bloomberg discusses, in an appealing conversational tone, the necessity for American on-shore manufacturing: You could say, as many do, that shipping jobs overseas is no big deal because the high-value work -- and much of the profits -- remain in the U.S. That may well be so. But what kind of a society are we going to have if it consists of highly paid people doing high-value-added work -- and masses of unemployed? Blue-collar workers can be retrained for white collar work: this rubric was a pinion of the argument of the 1980s justifying the trend towards a service-based economy. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
How does the actress CCH Pounder pronounce her first name? - Yahoo ...
I'm with GEM. I would just go by Carol. I guess she just thought using the initials would make her name stand out more. I don't know. She's great on The Shield though. That's my show! Do you mean how does she pronounce the CCH part of her name? I would think she just says the letters, you know, like if someones name is something like John Daniel, and he goes by JD or something. It sounds kind of weird to have 3 letters like that, but that's what I think...idk... 3 years ago 18% 24 Votes Member since: January 05, 2008 Total points: 14992 (Level 6) Umm,.... The "cch" in italian is it pronounced like "ch" or "k"? - Yahoo ...
Anytime you see "ch" or "cch" in Italian it is pronounced like "k" so "che" is prounced, "kay" and "chi" is pronounced "key." The English ch-sound as in church, is produced in Italian by a "c" followed by an "i" or an "e". So, "ce" is "chay" and "ci" is "chee."
