(RF) fields are used to systematically alter the alignment of this magnetization. This causes the hydrogen nuclei to produce a rotating magnetic field detectable by the scanner. This signal can be manipulated by additional magnetic fields to build up enough information to construct an image of the body. 1 Magnetic resonance imaging is a relatively new technology. The first MR image was published in 1973 2 3 and the first cross-sectional image of a living mouse was published in January 1974. 4 The first studies performed on humans were published in 1977. 5 6 By comparison, the first human X-ray image was taken in 1895. I’m going to be liveblogging today’s panel discussion, Close Gitmo and Use the Legal System at Netroots Nation 2010. Panelists featured are Adam Serwer, Matthew Alexander, Rep. Jerry Nadler, Vince Warren, and your very own emptywheel, Marcy Wheeler. (Video of this panel may be available later, technology permitting.) This is a rough paraphrase, not a word-for-word transcript. Wheeler: Lists good news and bad news about the topic of detention and Gitmo; we have seen some positive changes but over the big picture, no real change. Nadler: Very frustrated as not much has happened this year. Notes that the administration ... market research, surveys and trends

Legal Spend Management - CT TyMetrix
The increased utilization of AFAs by corporate law departments has been driven by two main factors. First, the recession that began in 2008 created an environment where corporate law departments were forced to implement cost control efforts. This resulted in an economic balance shift of sorts from the large law firm back to the corporate law department. The other driver has been that in the past five years many corporate law departments implemented technologies like integrated e-billing, matter management and business intelligence. Evaluating the success of existing AFAs and determining where new AFA opportunities exist ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Costrini: Do CT scans cause cancer?
With a question like that, one had better answer it quickly. Answer: yes. The answer deserves as much clarification as the question. CT (very short for "computed tomography") scans have been in general use for 40 years. Doctors use them to assess the recesses of the brain for cancer, clots and clogs; to view the inside of the belly without a scalpel; to decide if Billy has appendicitis, if mother has cancer, or if Rocco has been stabbed in a vital organ on a Saturday night. Last year, some 80 million CT scans were done in the U.S. One in 10 Americans has had one or more scans done in the past year. With 10 percent of ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Is it legal for USA Volleyball to require clubs who have earned a ...
USA Volleyball has instituted the "Stay to Play" policy for its national championship. They have contracted with THS a housing service to go into the location of the championship and contract with local hotels to provide the rooms for their participants. We are required to book our hotel rooms though THS even though we may not like the accomodations they have. USAV receives a kick back from each room night-($15) generating between $300,000 and $500,000 for USAV. The hotels are required to pay THS a commission rate of 10% for the rooms as well. We believe this is a violation of anti-trust laws as it "ties" one good (entry ...
