Korda has said that at the moment he shot the picture, he was drawn to Guevara's facial expression, which showed "absolute implacability" as well as anger and pain. Years later, Korda would say that the photo showed Che's firm and stoic character. Guevara was 31 at the time the photo was taken. Emphasizing the image's ubiquitous nature and wide appeal, the Maryland Institute College of Art called the picture a symbol of the 20th century and the world's most famous photo. Versions of it have been painted, printed, digitized, embroidered, tattooed, silk-screened, sculpted or sketched on nearly every ...

In this chapter we discuss the shifts in the proportions of different immigration categories over the years of the study. Summary of Findings The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) legalized a very large group of farm workers. The vast majority of these workers became Legal Permanent Residents. Many of these newly legalized workers stayed in U.S. agriculture and many left. The proportion of unauthorized workers rose considerably over the course of the survey; over one-third (37%) of all farm workers sampled during the last data collection cycle had no work authorization. industry trends, business articles and survey research
Survey of Palestinian Refugees and IDPs (2004-2005)
In 2005, there were appoximately 6.8 million Palestinian refugees and 400,000 internally displaced Palestinians representing 70 percent of the entire Palestinian population worldwide (9.7 million). The legal status of some 400,000 additional Palestinians is unclear, but they too are likely to be refugees. Palestinian refugees represent the longest protracted refugee situation worldwide. Israel's denial of refugee return, combined with the lack of international political will to enforce international law and relevant UN resolutions and the absense of an effective protection regime continue to prevent durable solutions. Opinion: Don't Hold Your Breath for Immigration Reform
(July 1) -- President Barack Obama reiterated today that he is ready to move forward on immigration reform, but added that his hands are tied until he gets support from the Republican Party. With midterm elections coming up and Congress battered and bruised from health care and financial reform, I won't be holding my breath on reform arriving anytime soon. As a longtime immigration attorney, I know all too well that something needs to be done about our outdated immigration laws, and fast. Every day that goes by without reform digs the hole a little bit deeper. Lengthy backlogs already plague the system. Other Views on ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Sperm donation: The US regulatory vacuum and its ethical ramifications
The debate surrounding the rights and welfare of donor offspring has been gaining momentum over the past few years, and a growing number of countries have already banned anonymous sperm donation to ensure the right of offspring to access information about their donors. With no central registry and no federal or state regulation requiring long-term record keeping, information about donors is kept by individual sperm banks and fertility clinics according to various standards and for different lengths of time. The outcome of the current ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
