In November of 2007 as the first step in assessing the property donated by Stanley Benecki, a group of IU students, faculty, and staff visited the island and met with area real estate professionals. Following the trip, a group of three MBA students took what they learned on this trip, and with extensive research on the physical, legal, and economic characteristics of the lots, including meeting with engineers, land planners, and attorneys, developed a business plan for selling the lots.
