What are rights, and where to they come from? This may seem to many Americans an absurd question, as most of us who are American are quite familiar with the Declaration of Independence. However upon closer examination it is this author's opinion that many Americans may not fully understand this fundamental concept to our form of government. We take it as a given that our rights come from our creator. Was our creator government? What a silly question. The answer obviously is no. The whole purpose of government as set forth in the Declaration of Independence is that governments are formed to "protect and secure" our ...

Funny how the one thing both sides here seem to agree on in this Global Warming issue is the use of the adjective “religious” as a derogatory insult with which to attack the opposing side! Each side claims to be the “really” scientific one too. Hmm .. Of course one side has all but a couple of the actual qualified practicing climatologists on the planet so that’s a bit of a give-away as to what the really scientific side actually is. Seems the “good news” year in the battle against the woo and anti-science is continuing so far. Thanks to a lot of good work from a lot of good people it ... market research, surveys and trends

Canada and the United States legal definition of Canada and the ...
The United States and Canada share a unique legal relationship. U.S. law looks northward with a mixture of optimism and cooperation, viewing Canada as an integral part of U.S. economic and environmental policy. The two nations' mutual, largely unguarded 5,000-mile border does much to explain why: each is the other's largest trading partner, amassing $218 billion in trade in 1992; cross-border travel is easy; and they work together on common concerns about the quality of water and air. However, the relationship has not always been so cooperative. Although environmental treaties date to 1902, economic pacts have taken ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

One of the attorneys who prosecuted Nazi war criminals at the end of World War II cautioned the United States, Russia and China on Wednesday over their opposition to the final inclusion of "crimes of aggression" in the mandate for the International Criminal Court. "Crimes of aggression" were initially included in the court's Rome Statute of 1998, but unlike the other three crimes put under the tribunal's jurisdiction -- genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes -- crimes of aggression were not defined and jurisdictional conditions were not set.
