The Legal Services Agency (LSA) Board has moved into transition planning with the disestablishment of the role of Chief Executive and the appointment of a Transition Manager. CONTROVERSIAL Auckland barrister Chris Comeskey faces being struck off over allegations that he falsely claimed thousands of dollars in legal services payments and misled the Court of Appeal. The Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal heard details of one case yesterday in which Mr Comeskey charged $3157, despite the client saying she saw him only once. His junior associates carried out the woman’s defence but he billed the whole defence at the senior counsel rate of $154 an hour, the New Zealand Law Society has claimed.
