is a multidisciplinary field that studies the employment relationship. Industrial relations is increasingly being called employment relations because of the importance of non-industrial employment relationships. Many outsiders also equate industrial relations to labour relations and believe that industrial relations only studies unionized employment situations, but this is an oversimplification.
UNITY: John Minto: Back to the future for National
The changes to employment law outlined by Prime Minister John Key yesterday are the most significant attack on workers’ rights since National’s last big assault via the 1991 Employment Contracts Act. From a softly-softly approach to industrial relations John Key has taken off the gloves to deliver a barrage of bare-knuckled blows against workers on the job and their rights to organise together. None of the changes have come as a result of public concern and we can forget the pathetic spin that workers can opt out of the provision. Key says if workers don’t want the 90 day “sack at will” provision in ... market research, surveys and trends
Empty promises on employment law « The Standard

NIRA was signed into law on June 16, 1933, and was to remain in effect for two years. It attempted to make structural changes in the industrial sector of the economy and to alleviate unemployment with a public works program. It succeeded only partially in accomplishing its goals, and on May 27, ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Parties clash over labour law plan
Since the Employment Contracts Act became law nearly 20 years ago, employer groups have argued that the ability of sacked and disgruntled workers to take personal grievances against their bosses has been a significant risk to doing business. Worse, they say, is that in wrongful dismissal cases the courts have insisted the firing process is just as important as the substantive reason for the dismissal. Worse still, there is no bullet-proof process laid down in black letter laws for a "perfect" dismissal – one that will comply with the law and ensure an employer is not vulnerable to a prolonged and expensive ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Unemployment Extension 2010: When Are the Checks Coming In?
he unemployment extension 2010 bill has been signed into law by President Barack Obama on Thursday. The bill was approved earlier in the day by Congress. These developments have paved the way for the restoration of unemployment benefits for millions of jobless Americans who had to endure up to seven weeks without the benefits because of a congressional standoff. The common question among many jobless workers is: When are the checks coming in? Most reports indicate that release of the checks would vary from state to state. We looked at the probable schedules for the release of the benefits per state. Pennsylvania and New York – ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
