Hotel ADA defense lawyer with the latest update on ADA "sweeps" by the Department of Justice coming to Portland, San Francisco and elsewhere. We discussed in earlier blogs that the DOJ is conducting in-depth investigations of hotels to determine whether they comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act or ADA. The investigations are called "sweeps" because they typically target all hotels in a given geographic area. One of the first notable ADA sweeps hit all the hotels in Manhattan's Theater District, where we actively assisted clients. Tighter coordination and planning to avoid future banking crises
A special system should be set up to ensure that crises are resolved earlier and to avoid rushed, weekend bank bailouts costing the taxpayer hundreds of billions of euros, says the European Parliament in a resolution passed on Wednesday. The growing size, complexity and interconnectedness of banks means that such a system must be established at European level. In the resolution, drafted by Elisa Ferreira (EPP, PT) and adopted by a show of hands, MEPs urge the European Commission to submit by the end of the year one or more draft laws relating to the management of cross-border crises in the banking sector. State insurance insolvency pool challenges new workers' compensation law
The state's insurance insolvency pool is asking a judge to declare unconstitutional a new law aimed at retroactively covering companies whose workers' compensation firms are declared insolvent. The challenge in DeKalb County Superior Court by the Georgia Insurers Insolvency Pool comes nearly three weeks after Gov. Sonny Perdue signed the measure into law. Allowing employers to buy into the pool now is unfair and places a burden on those pool members who paid into the fund all along, according to the filing. The letter came about the same time as a summons from the local District Courts. Letting me know that I had 20 days to respond to both the court and the law firm.
