My research focuses on (1) the changing geo-political-economy of work, employment and labour supply; and (2) new forms of urban coalitional politics. In recent years I have conducted research into the London living wage campaign and the broad-based community alliance called London Citizens that leads the campaign (see London Living Wage Research [new window] for more information). I have also been involved in a project to map the experiences, contributions and implications of foreign-born workers in London’s low waged jobs (see   Global Cities at Work [new window] for more information). This work is published in a new book called
Like other members of the Kuiper belt, Pluto is composed primarily of rock and ice and is relatively small: approximately a fifth the mass of the Earth 's Moon and a third its volume. It has an eccentric and highly inclined orbit that takes it from 30 to 49  AU (4.4–7.4 billion km) from the Sun. This causes Pluto to periodically come closer to the Sun than Neptune . From its discovery in 1930 until 2006, Pluto was considered the Solar System's ninth planet . In the late 1970s, following the discovery of minor planet 2060 Chiron in the outer Solar System and the recognition of Pluto's very low mass, its ...

Andy Flower will probably rest Stuart Broad for the Tests but faces a quandary over his victorious World Twenty20 captain This, Andy Flower has warned, is the era of rotation, where international scheduling is so demanding that in order to maintain fitness, form and enthusiasm, it will be necessary to rest key players at carefully selected intervals. It is too early to say whether Andrew Strauss’s international inactivity since the start of the year has benefited his play, but he would admit to being thoroughly refreshed after one of the most trying years any England captain can have endured. Now, with the World Twenty20 ... market research, surveys and trends

Welfare-through-work and the re-regulation of labour markets in ...
This paper is positioned within theoretical perspectives that focus on welfare states as systems of power and negotiation between key social forces acting in and through the state apparatus. In this context, we suggest that Labour's welfare-to-work programme is beginning to generate considerable debate on the re-regulation of labour markets. Although there is an emerging consensus that this strategy is deeply problematic, there appears to be reluctance, within the UK debate, to discuss viable alternatives to neoliberalism ne·o·lib·er·al·ism    n. UK freshmen get their shot on special teams
Junior Ryan Tydlacka fared well in his first year as a full-time punter, averaging 40 yards per kick. He was particularly good with regards to hang time — only 11 of his 64 punts were returned. Tydlacka could also win the placekicking job. The supporting cast: The return game is in fine hands with Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke, who have combined for three return touchdowns in their careers. The Cats also have a lot of speedy young players who could give Cobb and Locke a break if need be. Newcomer to watch: Freshman Joe Mansour could end up being the placekicker if he can show consistency. He was named the first-team kicker ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
UK coaches hope to pick a QB in a week
knew it was coming. After the University of Kentucky completed its first scrimmage of fall camp Saturday, the UK head coach and offensive coordinator knew that the million-dollar question surrounded the three-man quarterback race among Mike Hartline , Morgan Newton and Ryan Mossakowski . There's no verdict yet, but Phillips and Sanders both indicated that they'd like one to come soon. Phillips said he didn't see enough in the scrimmage to make any adjustments in the depth chart. "I think we've got to give it another week because there wasn't any huge separation among them," he said. "So ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

the A1231 Sunderland Highway, and Washington Road. The factory is adjacent to the Nissan Distribution Centre (NDS), and a number of synchronous suppliers. The landscaped NMUK site incorporates conservation area s, such as ponds, lakes and woodland. In 2005 , six second-hand, 200 ft wind turbines were installed in the centre of the site for a cost of £1.1 million. It was expected up to 7% of the plant's overall power needs could be met through these turbines, reducing 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. This impact has since been reduced, as in December 2005, one of the turbines caught fire and was ...
