Multivariate Statistical Process Control

A multivariate process consists of two or more process variables that interact and are considered a simultaneous group. In a typical multivariate process, a change in one variable can create a change in another. For example, turn up the temperature, and the pressure goes up. Such relationships among variables are helpful in understanding the process, and many control chart procedures are designed to extract information about the process from these variable correlations. In constructing most control charts used with a multivariate process, the analyst makes an inherent assumption that the observation ...
is the science of extracting information from chemical systems by data-driven means. It is a highly interfacial discipline, using methods frequently employed in core data-analytic disciplines such as multivariate statistics, applied mathematics, and computer-science, but to investigate and address problems in chemistry, biochemistry and chemical engineering. In this way, it mirrors several other interfacial ‘-metrics’ such as psychometrics and econometrics .

Over the last several decades, advances in automation and instrumentation have led to an explosion of data. Advanced analytics, such as multivariate analysis (MVA), can turn mounds of data into in-formation to address manufacturing performance. These solutions allow companies to identify relationships and acceptable, multivariate “operating envelopes.” In many cases, this information is useful for developing multivariate, causal models that support prediction of performance and qual-ity, process optimization, and on-line monitoring.   Advances in automation and instrumentation create a data glut. chart) and the simultaneous univariate control charts based on the original variables (SU charts) or based on the principal components (SUPC charts). The main reason to consider the PC chart lies on the dimensionality reduction. However, depending on the disturbance and on the way the original variables are related, the chart is very slow in signaling, except when all variables are negatively correlated and the principal component is wisely selected. Comparing the SU , the SUPC and the T 2 charts we conclude that the SU X charts (SUPC charts) have a better overall performance when the variables are ... market research, surveys and trends

Introduction: Syndromic surveillance systems are used to monitor daily electronic data streams for anomalous counts of features of varying specificity. The monitored quantities might be counts of clinical diagnoses, sales of over-the-counter influenza remedies, school absenteeism among a given age group, and so forth. Basic data-aggregation decisions for these systems include determining which records to count and how to group them in space and time. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
What are common elements of statistical projects, presentations, etc?
You generally start with a description of the research question and the data.  You identify your dependent variable, and all the independent variables and any control variables used in the analysis.  You describe the literature regarding previous studies in this area, and if you are building on or testing any of these studies, you want to say so.    Then, you tell how the data are gathered, what the sample was, and other information to allow researchers to get a handle on whether they think there may be problems in the study that are caused by deficiencies or misunderstandings in the data gathering process. ...
What is market segmentation? - Yahoo! Answers
When the term “market segmentation” is used, most of us immediately think of psychographics, lifestyles, values, behaviors, and multivariate cluster analysis routines. Market segmentation is a much broader concept, however, and pervades the practice of business throughout the world. What is market segmentation? At its most basic level, the term “market segmentation” refers to subdividing a market along some commonality, similarity, or kinship. That is, the members of a market segment share something in common. The purpose of segmentation is the concentration of marketing energy and force on the subdivision (or the market ...
