Founded in 1860's, Renton became a supply town for the Newcastle coal fields. The city is now a center of manufacturing and technology companies, such as Boeing, Paccar, and several dot-comers. The State of Washington Office of Financial Management estimates the City of Renton's population to be 82,548 as of May 2009. 1 The population increased significantly with the 2008 annexation 1 of the Benson Hill and Cascade communities directly southeast of the city. According to the data from the Office of Financial Management, Renton currently contains the 11th largest population in the state, and 5th largest in King County . 1

OFM | November revenue forecast down $760 million
The November revenue forecast for Washington state government shows projected General Fund revenue down $760 million for the remainder of this biennium, which ends June 30, 2011. The figure was released today by the Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council. Washington's voters appear ready to approve both fall initiatives that would privatize liquor sales in Washington state, a new poll shows.
