It’s World Plone Day! You say: "I have no idea what Plone is." We say: "It’s a Content Management System (CMS)." You say: "I have no idea what a Content Management System is." We say: "It’s software that allows nontechnical people to easily publish and edit content on their website." (Back in the '90s, you had to get your webmaster to make even the smallest changes – remember that? So annoying. Now, editors everywhere can post and edit text, images, and video all day long.) You say: I have no idea what Plone is. We say: It’s a Content Management System (CMS). You say: I have no ...

Vendors, Stress Balls and Beers | Jon On Tech
talking about “Findability in a Web 2.0 World”. It is really difficult for the speakers to pitch these at the correct altitude as the audience is so varied, but I quite enjoyed the talk. My favourite part was when she called most marketing “crap”. A nice relaxed, honest presentation. I spent most of the day chatting to vendors. Got the lowdown from (in alphabetical order) Alterian, CoreMedia, Ektron, EPiServer, EZ Systems, FatWire, FirstSpirit, Gomez, Hybris, Jadu, Kentico, OpenText (nee RedDot), SiteCore, Squiz and Vyre. I enjoyed my chat with Ian about the crazy CMS shit we all got up to in the late ... market research, surveys and trends
Plone Conference 2009 — Netsight Blog
Well, I'm now back from the 7th Annual Plone Conference 2009 in Budapest, sat at my desk with the post-conference come-down as the excitement of a conference fades away. Once again the Plone community has come together and put on an absolutely awesome event. Considering the general doom and gloom about the world economy, it was amazing to see over 400 people attend the conference (I think this is the largest yet). Netsight had a delegation of 6 people this year: Adam, Adrian, Ben, Daniel, Matt H, and Matt SS, plus honorary Netsighter Dan Fairs along as well. Daniel gave a talk on "Extending Plone: Using ... market research, surveys and trends

Oxfam America Launches $50 Million Fundraising Campaign — Oxfam ...
NEW YORK — International relief and development agency Oxfam America announced a new $50 million fundraising initiative, the Campaign for Oxfam America, at last night’s Esquire House celebrity event in New York City. To date, the Campaign has raised $43.8 million. "This is not a typical campaign,” said Janet McKinley, chair of Oxfam America’s board of directors and of the Campaign for Oxfam America. “We're not raising money for new buildings or for a perpetual endowment. The highest return a donor can get is to put money to work now.” “Oxfam is seeking investors who ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

What is the maximum amount of time a US citizen can spend in Canada at one time, with just a passport? What about over the course of a year? These would be personal and/or business visits. Given that only about 1.26 percent of the 300 billion coupons issued in the United States are actually redeemed , why do companies keep offering them? Why fill the Sunday papers full of coupons every week if most of them will just be thrown away? I've been putting off this post for fear of not getting everything across, I almost completely lack confidence and a sense of identity. This question has to do with number 1 and number 2. So if ...

What is the (probably software related) job that I want called, and how can I get that job now rather than later? Obscenely lengthy explanation inside. My husband recently recieved a death-threat via email from a former coworker. We want to know what we can do to track his home address, car, and other stuff, so we don't run into him. An adolescent relative in her senior year of high school is suffering depression, and recently spoke to a psychiatrist about suicide, which resulted in her near-hospitalization. She's taken Zoloft, and done some therapy -- what now? I'm working on an electric recumbent bicycle using a ...
