My best considered opinion is Manufacturing Engineering, and not because I have my own BS degree in it, it just makes sense that tool & die engineering is a subset of Mfg Eng. it would be a natural step forward. If your son is in the US, then I suggest the following schools, if your son is in India, I would simply look around, you'll know better than I. Assuming that he is in the US I recommend looking at all the schools that have Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and screening down from there based on other criteria you and your son may have.
