such as noise, heat, or light. Pollutants, the elements of pollution, can be foreign substances or energies, or naturally occurring; when naturally occurring, they are considered contaminants when they exceed natural levels. A Summary of MMS Problems Leading to the BP Oil Spill
The Deepwater Horizon oil spill, now covering over 2500 square miles of the Gulf, is a case study in federal government inadequacy. With the obvious tension between its regulatory mission to “promote responsible use” and its fiduciary mission to “realize fair value,” scrutiny of the Minerals Management Service in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon spill has revealed numerous regulatory gaps and lapses. The Washington Post reported that on April 6, 2009, the MMS gave BP a “categorical exclusion” from required environmental reviews for its Deepwater well. (May 10, 2010, “ U.S. exempted ... market research, surveys and trends
Ancient Roman Education Pictures Blog » Journal Research Music ...
Where can music educators go to get ideas and inspiration that will help them become more current and effective professionals? I started with the question for my knowledge building assignment. For the last two weeks, I spent quite some time searching for a journal that I will be reading for the spring semester. I found a couple of online journals that are specifically devoted to music education via GMU library system, and decided to choose ‘The Journal of Research in Music Education’. JRME was trouble-free to access from GMU library system compared to other journals I was debating with, and it was not complicated to locate ... market research, surveys and trends

Students imagine new possibilities in intensive summer agroecology program
I come from a community that is based on traditional agriculture: raising corn and sheep. This is still an important part of my Navajo culture and I grew up seeing the value of it. Farming enables us to stay on our land and not rely on the outside world. I came to Merry Lea's agroecology program because deserts and mountains are all I know. I wanted to see agriculture in a different setting. I was also curious about Mennonites and what their culture's relationship to the land might be like. One thing that struck me during my time in the Midwest was the way food is grown as a commodity. How odd it is to produce food for ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Nonpoint source pollution, or polluted runoff, is the greatest threat to coastal waters. Note the darker, murky water flowing from the developed area at the lower right. The Coastal Nonpoint Pollution Control Program was established by Congress in 1990 to encourage better coordination between state coastal zone managers and water quality experts to reduce polluted runoff in the coastal zone. Poor water quality is not just a result of what we do to the water but what we do on the land as well. Therefore, establishing shared responsibilities for managing coastal water quality between state coastal zone management agencies, who ... technology research, surveys study and trend statistics
Planning and Managing a Successful Project To Control Nonpoint ...
While significant progress has been made in reducing water pollution caused by point sources since the Clean Water Act was passed over 20 years ago, much work remains to be done to reduce nonpoint source pollutants that impair the quality of streams, rivers, lakes, ground water, and other bodies of water throughout the country. Many local government officials, as well as citizens, are becoming increasingly interested in taking action to address local water quality problems caused primarily by nonpoint source pollutants. These groups recognize that water-quality problems do not occur in isolation, but that many activities within ...

WikiAnswers - Difference between function based management and ...
I think product based management is when you break down a project into all the different products you need. For example, in the case of a UK drug dealing operation the manager will need to make sure he has all of the products he needs to complete the project. This will not include just high quality drugs but also scales, baggies and contacts. In function based management the supplier would tell teams of dealers what drugs need to be where. Instead of a breakdown of every product they need, there is an outcome that must be achieved by teams, with a deadline. First answer by ID2301362632 . Last edit by ID2301362632 . ...
Why do we spend so much money on space exploration? - Yahoo! Answers
The only reason I can see is simple curiosity, but why is fulfillment of curiosity worth such an incredible amount of time and money? Shouldn't we use those resources to improve life on Earth?
