Some Mexican DTOs are shifting cannabis cultivation away from intense eradication areas--even into eastern states--a shift that may enable these DTOs to further increase domestic cannabis cultivation. Mexican DTOs are relocating some of their operations to locations north and east of their principal operating areas in California, seemingly to avoid improved aerial detection and eradication in the state. At 7,000 feet in San Bernardino National Forest, I slept in a cabin, shared a bunk bed, drank mountain spring water, made s’mores over a crackling fire, supped with fellow campers in the lodge, and enjoyed one of the best personal and professional experiences so far in my life.
