Even if you live alone, don't let that recycling go to waste ...
All that sorting and washing and hauling and stacking and folding is for families. People with juice boxes and papers from school and empty gallon milk jugs. I rarely fill the 38-gallon trash container I pay to have hauled away each week. Why do I want to drag that AND those blue recycling containers all the way to the curb and back? (No smart remarks from those who know me about the 12-foot length of my driveway. I'm making a point here.) Single people don't need to recycle. "We hear that quite a bit," said Angie Timmons, communications manager for Rethink Recycling, the education outreach program associated ... market research, surveys and trends

Building Maintenance - Plastic Waste Bags
state, we must manage waste by first preventing waste whenever possible and managing all "waste" materials to their highest and best use. Eliminate unnecessary can liners. For example, using small desktop containers without liners, which are then emptied daily into a central trash bag, reduces the use of individual trash can liners. Reducing the thickness of trash bags, while maintaining high performance is an effective strategy for preventing waste. Film waste can be prevented by reusing bags. For example, reusable cloth bags can be used many times to store dry recyclable materials. Recycled Content: By using the ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Google Answers: Recycling paper - Is it really such a good thing ?
Why is recycling paper a 'good' thing ? Massive amounts of carbon can be removed from the atmosphere by young saplings planted in managed forests and planting trees seems to be an obvious method of solving or rebalancing the amount of carbon we produce through the burning of fossil fuels. Landfill of paper also locks carbon away. I can understand the arguement for recycling other materials e.g. glass but isn't recycling paper actually counter productive ? Hello Sparked-ga You?re right about trees helping to remove carbon monoxide, but mature trees do the job better than fast growing trees ...
