The European Master in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Policy Analysis aims at providing a high quality education in designing and assessing public policies targeted to the agricultural and food sector as well as the rural environment. The programme is policy oriented, focused on economic analysis, but with a strong multidisciplinary component. Sacramento leads nation in direct farm-to-consumer sales
Sacramento-area farms market directly to consumers through farmers markets and roadside produce stands at almost twice the rate of farms nationally, reports an agricultural economist at the University of California, Davis. The local study, conducted by Shermain Hardesty, a Cooperative Extension economist in the UC Davis Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, found that 14 percent of Sacramento-area farms marketed directly to consumers, compared to just nine percent of farmers nationally. Glickman Names Advisory Committee on Agricultural Biotechnology
Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman today named 38 members to a newly-formed USDA Advisory Committee on Agricultural Biotechnology. The Committee will advise the Secretary on policy related to the creation, application, marketability, trade and use of agricultural biotechnology.
