Lilly's Lechleiter, Science Jobs And A Disconnect // Pharmalot
For the past few weeks, Eli Lilly ceo John Lechleiter has been making the rounds talking about the problems facing the big drugmaker and the pharmaceutical industry, in general. In a word, the issue is innovation. One point he keeps making is that America’s schools need to improve science education and US immigration laws need to change to allow top scientists from other countries to work here. “…I’m concerned there are a number of things today that are working against that spirit of innovation. One is the fact that we’re falling behind with respect to science and math aptitude among grade school, ... market research, surveys and trends

Employment News at AOL Find a Job
The question of whether or not money can buy happiness has been around since the beginning of time. For centuries, people from all walks of life have held money up as the single key to their ideal, happy life. The theory goes: The more money you have, the happier you are. Here's a question for you: What do you think would happen if you make profanity-laced videos about how much you hate your job and how stupid your customers are, use equipment from your employer to make the videos, and put them on YouTube? Although entry-level roles are not as prevalent as in Q1 2008, overall numbers through our agency have returned to pre-recession levels. We have seen jobs created in all the following areas. Retention: In times of continued economic uncertainty, retention rather than acquisition seems the order of play; at least until the egaming rollercoaster is over any double dips. Compliance: Monopolies are now starting to open up, regulatory bodies are becoming more proactive, scandals like Eurolinx will be less and less tolerated. Children's outdoor party food: Survival tactics
There was a flurry of acceptances the moment I emailed an invitation to my middle son’s sixth birthday party last month. We have had some pretty good parties here in Hertfordshire, most of which have teetered somewhere between chaotic and dangerous, but none got this response. Last summer 30 tricycle-mounted children jousted at balloons with drawing pins taped to the ends of sticks to the soundtrack of The Ride of the Valkyries. In the autumn, under a torrential downpour, they bobbed for apples, then sought out chocolate hidden in bowls full of flour with their hands behind their backs (I had ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
