Going to a gold party

Basically you bring your gold jewelry to a "host's" home and there's someone there testing it and offering cash for it. As they say in the piece, "It's your grandma's new-age Tupperware party." Here's a better explanation (and a few more details): Gold parties are when friends and neighbors visit someone’s home and sell gold to a dealer who is hosting the event. The homeowner normally gets a commission on any sales to the dealer and their guests get paid based on the weight and quality of their gold. And here's a warning: Better Business Bureau advises consumers that while gold ...
Niger is a developing country. Much of the non-desert portions of the country are threatened by periodic drought and desertification. The economy is concentrated around subsistence and some export agriculture clustered in the more fertile south, and the export of raw materials—especially uranium ore. Niger remains handicapped by its landlocked position, desert terrain, poor education and poverty of its people, lack of infrastructure, poor health care, and environmental degradation. Nigerien society reflects a great diversity drawn from the long independent histories of its several ethnic groups and regions and their relatively ...
Ever Hear of Gold Parties? » Blogging Away Debt
Gold Parties seem to be pretty popular in lower Michigan right now due to the price of gold hovering around $1,000/ounce. People are gathering their old/damaged jewelry and going to these parties to cash in. They are sort of like tupperware parties, but you aren’t spending money…you are making it. “Patty Miller, 40, of Grand Blanc, said she went to a gold party a few weeks ago, taking some gold rings and necklaces that were “just sitting around” and didn’t expect much. “I ended up making $320,” said Miller. Gold Parties Watch Out… « N.J. Diamonds
All Gold Partys are not scams as it sounds like you would have us believe. I am assuming that you are either a jeweler or a pawn shop operator. You buy gold, do you offer Spot for it, of course you don’t. What percent of spot do you pay? As whith anything else there is money to be made and there are allot of people that would not go to a pawn shop or a jewelry store to sell or recycle their gold. The in home party is a great venue for them. You are correct about some red flags but I don’t believe the sky is falling either. Undercover At A Gold Party « N.J. Diamonds
On Monday a gold party was held at one of the house’s of worship in the area, we sent in someone with some gold to see how it works this is what happened. 174 grams of 18kt gold was sent, we also sent 21kt, but after what happened with the 18kt she found out all she needed to know so she did not bother showing him the 21kt gold. Hog Heaven at The Hall of Fame
Believe it or not, this past weekend more than just Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. One of those "other" men who was inducted was none other than Russ Grimm. A man whose induction was a long time coming, many would say some of his fellow Hogs should be up there with him. Semantics aside, he was a part of one of the most dominant offensive lines in the history of the game, and it is a bit shocking that in 2010, nearly 20 years after he retired, he is the first Hog to be honored by the Hall. Grimm was humble in his speech, he didn't talk about himself, ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

DCP: Commissioner Farrell: Gold Parties Must Comply with Laws
HARTFORD, November 20 -- Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. warned consumers to be wary of in-home gold parties that have become popular around the state over the last month.  The gold party concept involves a person inviting his or her friends over to their home for a party where they are asked to bring any unwanted gold that they might want to sell.   Its nice to gather in someones home, have food and drink and socialize, but, if that party also involves potentially selling your gold, consumers need to know important information ahead of time, Farrell said.  He pointed out ... technology research, surveys study and trend statistics
1896: The People's Party
The People's Party (or Populist Party, as it was widely known) was much younger than the Democratic and Republican Parties, which had been founded before the Civil War . Agricultural areas in the West and South had been hit by economic depression years before industrial areas. In the 1880s, as drought hit the wheat-growing areas of the Great Plains and prices for Southern cotton sunk to new lows, many tenant farmers fell into deep debt. This exacerbated long-held grievances against railroads, lenders, grain-elevator owners, and others with whom farmers did business. By the early 1890s, as the depression worsened, some ...

Where to sell my gold chain (18K)? - Yahoo! Answers
I have 2 18 karat gold chains that i never use, so i'm thinking about selling them. I heard on the news, that 24K is at 1,000 an oz. and i think 750 an oz for 18k. The chains are in great condition, but if i decided to sell it online (ebay or amazon) should the cost of gold at this time affect my price or would it be sold as used jewelry. would it be better to sell to a jewelry store or refining company? Whom would pay for the value of gold at the time. I'm not sure how i can make the most profit, any thoughts? by the way, is it safe to send jewelry through USPS? 2 years ago Member since: May 24, 2006 Total ...
