In this age of specifically defined ROI, I would think that just the opposite were happening--i.e. Offline advertising would adopt online metrics to be able to show directly the value they provide. Isn't that why broadcast TV is having so much trouble? The value of online is in the metrics that are available, and the ability of advertisers to precisely target, a la direct marketing, the audience they wish to reach and understand exactly how much it costs to engage them. Oh how I dread this fun......and avoid the little get-togethers as much as possible. Of course, this may be why I'm better out of a corporate environment and prefer to freelance. For me, satisfaction of a job well done and friendly interactions with people are much better than "parties", which always seem forced and uncomfortable.
