PARIS — The pace of France’s economic growth slowed at the start of 2010 as a government vehicle scrappage scheme was phased out, according to preliminary figures released by the national statistics agency, Insee. Insee said French gross domestic product growth of 0.2 percent in the first three months of the year would be followed by 0.3 percent growth in the second quarter. That puts it in line with average growth among the 16 nations that share the euro currency, Insee said in a report released late Thursday. The national statistics agency INSEE has predicted that France will officially fall into recession next year, for the first time since 1993. The agency hopes for a slow recovery after the first quarter of 2009.
