>>According to S&P/Case-Shiller, the average sale price of a home was about the same in November as in October, which can be seen as a good sign. Sales of existing homes also improved. But sales of newly built homes fell over 11 percent in November to their lowest point in seven months, according to the Commerce Department. One reason: The number of vacant homes is at a record high—11 percent of all housing units. At the same time, rental vacancies were also at a record level—slightly more than 11 percent of units on the market. Self-defense: Congress has extended the home buyer tax credit from this November 30 to ...
(to sell)) exists when a specific individual or an enterprise has sufficient control over a particular product or service to determine significantly the terms on which other individuals shall have access to it. (This is in contrast to a monopsony which relates to a single entity's control over a market to purchase a good or service. And contrasted with oligopoly where a few entities exert considerable influence over an industry) Monopolies are thus characterised by a lack of economic competition for the good or service that they provide and a lack of viable substitute goods . The verb "monopolise" refers to the ...
Market Report, "IP juggernaut about to hit prepaid ", published
– Prepaid has increased in importance since the start of recession, with many consumers switching from post-paid to prepaid services. Mobile network operators (MNOs) have responded to this shift by offering content-based IP services to their prepaid users in the hope of retaining these customers and driving ARPU growth. However, this is not the only dynamic impacting the prepaid market and MNOs will need to assess their next-generation charging strategies, particularly in relation to prepaid. Interest In Law School Increases, Despite Weak Job Market
I think as usual a lot of bloggers are on here to spout out their own personal woes and opinions they have without much based on fact. The fact remains the top 100 schools in this country out of 188 fully accredited are getting people jobs and good paying jobs. This is not my opinion. I am applying to law schools this year I have researched job statistics for Tier 2 law schools and Tier 1. There is a law school on my campus that I am looking at as well. They have at minimum 80 percent employment rates. That means the graduating class majority are employed within 9 months. Where is it that we find low employments rates and low ... market research, surveys and trends

Global meat markets in 2006 have again been affected by animal disease concerns after experiencing a brief market recovery in 2005. Shaping meat market developments in 2006 are the dramatic consumer responses to the increasing incidence of avian influenza (AI) outbreaks, as well as continuing BSE-related bans on North American beef and FMD-related bans on South American red meat exports (bovine, sheep and pigmeat). From late 2005 to early May 2006, AI outbreaks had been reported in approximately 40 previously unaffected countries, many of which are the major poultry consuming and importing countries of Europe, the Middle ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Six Ugly Secrets of the Cosmetics Counter
If you’ve ever set foot in a department store, you’ve probably had to navigate through the beauty and fragrance gauntlet—bombarded by salespeople in medical-inspired lab coats, spritzed with the latest scent, or pressured to be “made over” with the season’s newest colors. I used to be one of these people. For seven years, I worked as a makeup artist in almost every high-end retail store—from Saks Fifth Avenue to Barneys. Dressed in the beauty-counter uniform of head-to-toe black, my job was to make people spend—even if they didn’t want to. If I failed? Well, I was out of a job. Most cosmetics counters run on freelance labor, and ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Domestic petrol prices rise rapidly, but drop slowly
Domestic fuel prices usually rise immediately following hikes in global fuel prices. However, recently when world prices have fallen, the domestic ones have remained unchanged. At a gasoline filling station in Ho Chi Minh City (Photo: SGGP) Vuong Thai Dung, deputy general director of Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation (Petrolimex), said the company reaped profits when prices of petrol and oil on the world market dropped during the past four to five days.   However, he said, “The world prices began to go down just few days ago, if calculating on an average of 30 days of storage and circulation, we have yet to be able to ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Market and Price
According to the American Marketing Association, marketing research is the systematic gathering, recording, and analyzing of data about problems relating to the marketing of goods and services. Every small business owner-manager must ask the following questions to devise effective marketing strategies: Who are my customers and potential customers? What kind of people are they? Where do they live? Can and will they buy? Am I offering the kinds of goods or services they want at the best place, at the best time, and in the right amounts? Are my prices consistent with what buyers view as the product's value? Are my promotional ... technology research, surveys study and trend statistics

How to market and price paintings as a young artist? | Ask MetaFilter
How should one market and price art as a young artist? My sister-in-law is a very talented young (20 y.o.) artist. She is just finishing an undergraduate program in fine arts (where she excelled, particularly in the applied courses), and is actively attempting to make a business out of selling and marketing her art. She has a number of pieces on display in local galleries, and has sold some pieces to friends and family already for prices ranging from $500 to $1000. Now she's going to be working full-time on creating and hopefully finding homes for her pieces, what strategy is best for pricing? More generally, how should ...
WikiAnswers - Price determination with market force
Market forces generally is taken to mean the determinants of supply and demand. Generally where supply and demand meet is the equilibrium price ie optimum price for a given product. If either the supply or demand changes then the price will be affected. For example, currently we have a demand for housing which cannot be met with the existing supply (as well as the fact of having low interest rates) so with each sale of property the price goes up. This continued for some time until we had the credit crunch and the supply of money (mortgages) became severely restricted thereby reducing the demand for property and ultimately prices ...
