Aug. 23--Pacific Ethanol's acquisition of Phoenix Bio-Industries and its ethanol plant in Goshen will cost $47.5 million, according to a recent financial filing detailing the deal announced this month. If completed, the acquisition will give the Fresno-based company ownership of California's first full-scale corn-to-ethanol plant. The deal is contingent on the plant meeting certain production standards as well as Pacific Ethanol raising financing. "Those two pieces need to come together," said Ryan Turner, chief operating officer of Pacific Ethanol.
