Marketing for Geeks

OK.  Before I explain why Asus deserves to be mentioned in marketing textbooks for its horrible management of the Eee brand, let me first say that I love my Eee PC 901 .  I've had this little device for a couple weeks now, and it's just a really great product. The battery life is outstanding. It takes a few days of use to get accustomed to the keyboard, but after that, it's quite usable. I wish the Mac were available in this form factor.  (Yes, I know about the MacBook Air.  That's not even close to what the Eee is.) I'd prefer Linux, but I've got the XP ...
Thus green marketing incorporates a broad range of activities, including product modification, changes to the production process, packaging changes, as well as modifying advertising. Yet defining green marketing is not a simple task where several meanings intersect and contradict each other; an example of this will be the existence of varying social, environmental and retail definitions attached to this term. 1 Other similar terms used are Environmental Marketing and Ecological Marketing . The legal implications of marketing claims call for caution. Misleading or overstated claims can lead to regulatory or civil challenges. In ...

I will write quickly and avoid my usual slickly manufactured wit because the sooner I get this blog post written, the sooner I can go downtown and drink margaritas while shameless fans throw their panties at me. For many moons, we have been getting requests for two things. One, more audio. Two, more products that are specific to industries and professions. (Also, more videos, which we might get to this weekend. I mean, hello?! Have you SEEN the Blowjob Barbie picture?) Word on the street is that if people have to read one more ebook, they’re going to off themselves, and y’all are sick of generic advice that forces you to say ... market research, surveys and trends
Make Marketing History: Geek Marketing 101.
Following various comments I've made about deficiencies in technology marketing and my disagreement with Doc Searl's provocations , I've been rightly harassed into prescribing some solutions to my complaints. So I give you Geek Marketing 101. It is so named because I see amongst many geeks a pervasive misunderstanding and consequent distrust of what marketing is, and a failure to recognise that much technology marketing is no longer geek to geek since complex products are increasingly being bought by non-geeks. Of course, these observations are equally applicable to geek to geek and non-geek businesses. 1) ... market research, surveys and trends

A Social Network at ExTech 0
They have what they call a Social Network and it might have a blog inside a firewall. You have to sign up to see what Extech has beyond a few “teasers” on the home page! We don’t consider that a blog, nor do most Web geeks. The blog we found at BlogSpot run by Mr. Gary Orlove of the ITC is certainly a blog. ( Thanks for reminding us about it, Gary , we ‘d overlooked it, somehow. ) The IR InformIR (http://irinformir.blogspot.com/) is a real blog but with a few quirks! The big quirk we saw is that most, if not all, the articles are posted by one person, him. Gary’s a great, friendly, knowledgeable ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Shamelessly Successful Marketing for the Internet
The world is moving so fast these days that the man who says it cant be done is generally interrupted by someone doing it. - Harry Emerson Fosdick Dot-coms are everywhere we look today. While in Venice Beach, California, I saw a man Roller Blading in a Speedo with his website posted on his butt. Now that is about as shameless as it gets--but it sure got my attention! Back in the early 1990s people who knew a lot about computers and spent a lot of time on them were called geeks. Today, the geeks are the few that dont know about computers, the Internet, and marketing online. We ...
Gay geeks... Are they more than one in a million? | Ask MetaFilter
27yo geekish gay guy. Not some hot little boi but defenately not a troll. Everywhere I've looked for other guys of my persuasion have been either hook-up type places (gay.com) or in the bars, and the bars just seem full of extremely self absorbed, dumb as a box of rocks little queens. Does such a thing exist? I'd rather curl up on the couch with a boy and watch bad sci-fi and play a videogame than go out clubbing. I mean random hookups are nice and all but it's easier just to stay home an jack off. Or are my fears true... The mythical gay geek is truly a super-rare occurrence It's not a myth, they definitely ...
